Fans waiting to see The Wasp and more Ant-Man on the big screen are in luck, according to Deadline a deal has just been reached for Paul Rudd, Andrew Barrer, and Gabriel Ferrari to write Ant-Man and The Wasp. Peyton Reed is set to direct the sequel to the modest hit that earned $520 million globally on an ant-sized for a blockbuster $130 million budget.
When writer/director Edgar Wright left the project a year before the release, Barrer, Ferrari, and Rudd jumped in to doctor the script, uncredited. Adam McKay was also involved in rewriting, and he is to help the trio break the story and have them go and write the script.
Against a mountain of Edgar Wright fanboy doubt, including from yours truly, the movie ended up being one of Marvel’s best, but was sadly overshadowed by Age of Ultron which had come out just a few months before and was a disappointment.
Ant-Man was at least popular enough to make it onto the posters for the upcoming Captain America: Civil War.
Although they haven’t shown him in the trailers, it’s safe to assume he’ll be on Cap’s side from the teaser ending of Ant-Man (with the other teaser ending teasing The Wasp’s entry into the MCU).
