Star Wars: Rogue One

Star Wars: Rogue One, or Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, is set for a release date of December 16, 2016, just two days before last year’s Star Wars film release date. It will focus on the band of Resistance fighters who set out on the daring mission to steal the plans for the Death Star from the Empire.

The movie will take place between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, will be directed by Godzilla‘s Gareth Edwards, and has been in production for about half a year. Although, with all the hype leading to the release of The Force Awakens, it was easy to miss the bits and pieces of news coming out relating to this first installment to the Star Wars anthology films (other films include solo films on Boba Fett and Han Solo).

Rogue One’s director had this to say about the film, “Real…This is a real place that we’re really in…The thing that interests me about it, is Star Wars was basically very black and white. Our movie is gray.

Well now that The Force Awakens has been released out into the wild, causing nerdy hysteria, 2016 is here and it is the year of Rogue One. Fans already got a look at the cast and characters of the film (above), but today, during the Nuremberg Toy Fair, we were able to get an even closer look at the gear our Rogue Fighters will be wearing:

The names of each character have yet to be released, probably to avoid having the info leak into the hands of Darth Vader and Palpatine, but based on the first photo (from left to right) the costumes belong to Jiang Wen, Diego Luna, Felicity Jones, and Donnie Yen.

For some reason, Riz Ahmed’s (Nightcrawler) outfit is not seen in the photos. Which is a shame, because from the photo above his character looks to be the technician of the group and I really wanted to see all those little gadgets and tools up close.

No doubt a good way to remind people that movie is in fact happening without being too over the top.

What do you guys think about the costumes? Are you guys excited to get your yearly dose of Star Wars? And why haven’t you seen Nightcrawler? It’s really good!
