The graboids are back! Now with Bacon!
In what could be another case of the internet asking and receiving, Universal Cable Productions and Blumhouse Productions seek to prove everything really is better with Bacon, including Tremors.
A few short months after Kevin Bacon stated in an interview he would “love to do something else with Tremors and revisit the character 25 years later,” we have official word of him doing just that.
Entertainment Weekly just reported that Bacon will co-produce and star Bacon in the horror-comedy series himself.
What is less clear is if this will be a direct sequel to the original Tremors and ignore all other sequels and franchise offshoots, which it really should be. Or if they will employ similar practical puppet effects or go full CG.
The original 1990 Tremors movie about snake-like creatures with mouths like sarlaccs terrorizing a small desert town spawned several direct-to-video sequels and a short-lived series back in 2003 all starring or featuring original co-star Michael Gross, but none of them had Bacon.
It has yet to be determined which network will air the series, but it has been reported that several different outlets have expressed interest in filling the internet’s voracious appetite for Bacon.
