Proving no idea is too small for Hollywood to pass up as an adaptation, Deadline reports that NBC ordered a reality series based on Maroon 5’s “Sugar” video, which was directed by David Dobkin, who also directed “Wedding Crashers.
The video, which involves the band crashing several unsuspecting wedding receptions as the wedding band and playing their new hit single, “Sugar,” inspired Adam Levine and Dobkin to pitch a series where celebrities surprise unsuspecting super-fans with their favorite celebrity at a big event of their life.
Imagine having your Robert DeNiro at your baby’s christening, Salma Hayek at your little sister’s quinceañera, or R. Kelly at your niece’s graduation, oh wait, scratch that last one.
The video features a not-so-subtle “The Voice” advert in the background of one of the clips of the band driving around Hollywood. The show will no-doubt be another chance for NBC to synergize and promote their other network stars and vehicles, like “Hollywood Game Night” or “Best Time Ever with Neil Patrick Harris.”
