Well, lovers of all things anime, another beloved series has been grabbed by the IP Milking Hands of movie producers, Fullmetal Alchemist.
The live-action adaptation of Feelmetal Alchemist, is set to be released in winter of 2017 and will be directed by Fumihiko Sori who is most known for his film Ping Pong (good movie, bad name; give it a shot).
Although news about the project has been around for quite some time, some recent tidbits have arisen such as: the cast will consist of only Japanese actors/actresses and it will be filmed in Europe (in order to fit the style of the anime).
Sori also shared a couple of insights on his live-action portrayal of Fullmetal Alchemist:
“I want to depict something that follows the original work as much as possible. The cast is entirely Japanese, but the setting is Europe. However, their race and nationality isn’t expressed in a specific form.”
The cast, in terms of resemblance to the source material, varies. Some look like they will make an easy transition into looking the part, while others, like Envy, will understandably have difficulties on selling the part to long-time fans of the series.
Before you quickly scroll through and look for Alphonse, his role has not been officially announced (or at least, I have yet to come across any announcements). I’m assuming whoever is chosen for the role will only provide the voice while some tall and burly person will provide the body needed to place the armor on.
