“You know, it’s cute and funny. I mean people make fun of him and there’s a bunch of jokes about him. But I’m like ‘Well… just wait. Let’s just wait a little bit. And then we can make jokes…'”
When we first heard that DC was aiming to create their own expanded cinematic universe revolving around the very popular group of superheros, The Justice League, nerds and non-nerds everywhere began wondering how they will tackle bringing Spongebob into the dark and gritty cinematic universe they have created.
Did I say Spongebob? I meant to say Aquaman.
Aquaman is probably the least respected member of the Justice League despite his ability to speak to and control any underwater creature this planet has to offer (except for Cthulhu, that’s just ridiculous because he’s not even a sea creature).
When images were first released showing Jason Momoa dawning the Aquaman gear, fans everywhere immediately go the message that this Aquaman was no joke. Now, Jason Momoa has furthered this point at this years Fan Expo Canada.
Frankly, I’m a little disappointed they decided to make Aquaman into another dark and gritty characters. We already have a surplus of those. Just give us one comedy. Anyways, those are points for another article.
The James Wan directed Aquaman will be released on July 27, 2018, however, before gracing the big screen in his own movie, Spongebob is said to have a short cameo in the upcoming Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice which will hit theaters on March 25, 2016. Damn, I mean Aquaman. Why do I keep doing that?
If you’d like, I’ll leave the entire Fan Exp interview with Jason Momoa right below for your viewing pleasure. Be warned, his voice is deep and a bit gravelly so it’s somewhat difficult to hear some of his words.
