EA has it’s own reputation amongst the gaming community, and so do mobile games. However, it seems that EA want’s to keep up the bad reputation of mobile gaming, and themselves.

Recently, a list of mobile games was released that were removed from the stores by EA. They did it so silently and swiftly that no one even noticed them disappear. The removal came on September 1st when the publisher released on it’s support site a list of games to be removed:

  • Bejeweled 2
  • Burnout Crash
  • Dead Space
  • Don’t Fall Off
  • Flight Control
  • Flight Control Rocket
  • Fly With Me
  • Lemonade Tycoon
  • Mass Effect Infiltrator
  • MMA by EA Sports
  • Need for Speed Shift
  • Real Racing
  • Sims Medieval by EA
  • Skate It by EA
  • Spore Creatures
  • Spore Origins
  • Spy Mouse

This list has a large amount of games that helped the IOS mobile gaming platform become part of the standing market. Games like Flight Control and Real Racing are a few examples of IP’s that were extremely successful during the early movement of games onto mobile device platforms.

Although no newcomers have the power to access these games anymore, those of you who have purchased/ downloaded the game previously can still go back in and acquire the game.

The big move seems to be connected to the fact that a lot of these games were designed for older software systems on the IOS platforms, and of course everything has moved way forward since then. Instead of putting in time and effort to update these games for the newer software, EA seem’s to have decided to just take them down and focus their efforts on creating newer and better gaming experiences. They also have said that their focusing on the games that are selling well now.

Of course, they are only going to do this until eventually those games get taken down as well, it’s like EA seem’s to hate progress and success. Regardless, hopefully the mobile gaming market will move up eventually in terms of quality. For now, a moment of silence for these once great games…
