Dragon Ball

Dragonball Xenoverse 2 has been announced with a brief trailer and is once again being developed by Dimps and produced by Bandai Namco. The announcement comes as somewhat as a shock as the original game was released just over a year ago leaving us to wonder just how much could have been changed and improved upon in such a short time.

The trailer showcases a new area for Xenoverse 2 that seems to be the new hub world similar to Toki Toki City from the original Xenoverse where players can group up and launch missions together or engage in PvP. The trailer also shows several other locations and events throughout the Dragonball Z timeline, so it is unknown if events from Dragonball, Dragonball GT, or Dragonball Super will be included in the game.

The story appears to follow, at the very least, the full Dragonball Z storyline from the Saiyan Saga to the end of the Buu Saga, with some other storylines taken from the movies and special episodes included such as Lord Slug, Bardock Father of Goku, and The History of Trunks.

Overall the aesthetic of the trailer is very similar to the original Xenoverse and the graphics look great with great color and designs similar to the newer entries into the anime such as Resurrection of F, and Dragonball Super.

Though it is impossible to say if much has changed from a gameplay perspective at this point, a significant difference seems unlikely given the rather short development time. The trailer also seems to show that the synopsis will remain more or less unchanged from the first game, with some unknown force changing history and seemingly corrupting and empowering some of the Z Fighters’ greatest enemies.

There is very little surprise when it comes to the events shown as most Dragonball games have adopted to follow the storyline of the anime with little variation, and Xenoverse 2 is seemingly no different; players will once again be playing through Dragonball Z’s greatest hits.

With E3 only about a month away fans of the franchise can expect a bigger announcement and quite possibly some gameplay there. The game does not have a release date but the trailer claims that it will release some time in 2016.

Editor’s Note: I swear to Beerus, if this game neglects to give us cool characters like Tarbles, Zangya, Super Janemba, or Baby and all his forms, but insists on adding f****** Appule and f****** Raspberry I will f****** sh** out of frustration and send it to Bandai in a box.

I get Saibaman and Cell Jr. They’re about as useful as a grain of dirt, but I think all DBZ video game fans have accepted that you (Bandai) stick to those as a form of nostalgic trolling.

But Appule and Raspberry? No one wanted them!
