Ever since Neill Blomkamp’s concept art for another Alien movie was green lit for production, nothing else has been released in regards to information about its survival.

However, recently more information has surfaced about the release date of Blomkamp’s Alien giving Alien fans everywhere the hope they needed to continue going on. Actor and Director, Michael Biehn, and another source from Fox  have come out with information that the fifth installment to the Alien franchise is still very much a priority for the studio.

Alien 5 is still very much in the works. As Fox remains hot on the idea. Blomkamp continues to work on the script (only an outline existed previously) and refine the tale he is telling. Ridley Scott is still producing, but has insisted on Prometheus 2 being made first.

Although not being fully set in stone, it gives us some information. Ridley Scott’s Prometheus 2 is set to begin development early next year for a release in 2017, which puts Blomkamp’s Alien for a 2017 development period which then means that it will not be released in the big screen until sometime in 2018.

Quite a long time until. BUT, if it makes anyone feel better, this new installment to the franchise will erase Alien 3 and Alien: Resurrection from the Alien canon.

For those of you who need to get your Ridley Scott fix soon, I will attach the trailer to Scott’s latest project The Martian staring Matt Damon as a lone astronaut trapped in a NASA space station on Mars awaiting for either his lonesome death or his team’s rescue. The Martian will be released on September 30th, 2015.

And yes, Alien Canon does sound like a kickass weapon.
